This is an appreciation post for Dhan’s DEXT in terms of execution speed and latency and no, I’m NOT paid by Dhan.
I placed a few orders today across multiple accounts, and in every single case, the order placement and execution times were nearly identical — we’re talking just a few milliseconds apart!
Example:
Order placed: 15:13:48
Fully executed: 15:13:48
And this isn’t just one trade — saw the same consistency across multiple trades. Kudos to @PravinJ and @Dhan!
Parallel execution and speed achieved are impressive. But it also causes a significant side hassle.
The system expects us to maintain double the margin than what is required to open a margin-blocked position momentarily in close - open scenarios where only closing an existing position releases sufficient margin to open a new position. Basket orders and reverse tap orders are affected. For APIs and webhook orders we can manually stagger the orders with the required delay to ensure order execution.
Nothing in this world ever truly matures—everything keeps evolving. That said, I’m genuinely thrilled with the current DEXT avatar; it’s simply unmatched for discretionary traders.
@t7support has had a different experience, but his concern isn’t with the OMS itself but rather with the speed of margin updates.
As for me, I need the ability to place large orders with ultra-low spreads and fastest possible execution - and I’m getting that.
Not just me. Many active high order value FnO traders I know face this issue. Significant order flow therefore goes via other brokers. Their speed or tech is not as exceptional as Dhan but order execution reliability looks great on the screen because of it.
Hi @t7support Well we know we differ on this one, we do not believe in tracking trades of users and inducing delays on this. Our systems are highly compliant with regulations of exchanges on margins - and additionally we were also able to replicate the same errors on other broker.
DEXT provides and edge on speed and execution and we have time and again updated our platforms from where we started to current performance.
Both are not needed from Dhan end. Just like Iceberg + orders basket and reverse tap orders can be sent sequentially if there is a margin issue. Sounds good ?
I had tested and shared some time ago, if you recall. It was working with another top broker.
