I have imported My external mutual fund portfolio to dhan. Now when I try to place the order in the same mutual fund through dhan , dhan is creating a New folio rather than using the existing folio which I imported. What is the process in dhan, to continue the investments in same folio rather than creating New one?
Hi @Nagasahitya ,
Listing out the top four risks and challenges with placing a new order in an external folio. These are exactly the situations that end up creating problems for investors:
• External folios usually have older or mismatched details, which leads to AMCs rejecting the order.
• Since the folio wasn’t opened on Dhan, we can’t see what bank, nominee or FATCA info the AMC has stored. If anything doesn’t match, the transaction fails.
• Redemption money goes to the bank account linked to that old folio, not the one you use on Dhan -which can delay or misroute payouts.
• Many older folios don’t meet the latest nominee rules, and AMCs block purchases until that’s corrected.
To avoid these issues and ensure your experience stays smooth, we create a fresh folio with your verified Dhan details.
If you prefer to keep everything in one place, you can place your first order on Dhan and then shift your external folio holdings into the new one created here by consolication folio from MF Central
